Our small family business selling patchwork and quilting supplies and haberdashery items began just over three years ago in a converted granary in the village of Hellingly, East Sussex.
It was a strange coincidence to discover that our Victorian ancestors had been labourers on the same farm over 100 years before!

A year passed, the business grew and it was time to look for a bigger home for The Pumpkin Patch.

In May 2003, the chance came to take over a premises in St Mary’s Walk, just off the High Street in the nearby historic market town of Hailsham.
By September 2003, the move was complete and the business installed in its new home. With a larger selling area for an ever increasing range of fabric, haberdashery and other needlecraft items AND a large classroom upstairs complete with kitchen and bathroom facilities, The Pumpkin Patch was all set for an exciting future.

Now, two years later, ‘The Pumpkins’ are going from strength to strength.

With a range of nearly 1000 bolts of 100% cotton patchwork fabrics (including ranges from Timeless Treasures, Moda and Makower), a number of different waddings and stocks of Gutterman and YLI cottons and quilting threads, there are temptations to be found for any patchworker or quilter.

We also keep an ever increasing range of Anchor embroidery threads and tapestry wools.

Our selection of knitting wools is rapidly expanding and currently includes Foxy, Funky Fur, Denim Ultra and New Fizz from Sirdar and the more traditional Double Knit, Aran Chunky and 4-ply from both Sirdar and King Cole.
Our Double Knit starts at 99p per 100gm ball, which makes it very popular!
We also sell a variety of patterns along with all manner of knitting accessories.

As well as the shop, we also run a range of courses on patchwork, quilting and other crafts. Our teachers can cater for students of all abilities, from the patchwork novice to the more experienced machine quilter.
